EU Prize for Women Innovators 2020: Rebecca Saive finalist and special mention

Commissioner Gabriel said:

It is a great privilege to be in a position to recognize such exceptional innovators. Today we shine a spotlight on inspiring women who are leading the charge in bringing life-changing innovations to the market. It is my hope that with this prize, our winners will go on to inspire many other women to create innovative businesses in Europe.

Three women, who the jury felt had stood out amongst the other finalists, received a ‘special mention’ prize for their achievements. Amongst them, in the Rising Innovator category: Rebecca Saive (Germany), co-founder and CTO of ETC Solar, a company developing a micro metal 3D printing tool to improve the performance of solar cells.

With her paper and presentation on “Free-Space Concentration of Diffused Light”, Master student Lisanne Einhaus received the 2nd place for best student paper and presentation at the 2020 Optical Devices and Materials for Solar Energy and Solid-state Lighting (PVLED) conference.

University of Twente’s Rebecca Saive Named an MIT Technology Review 2020 Innovator Under 35

Enschede, Netherlands – June 18, 2020 – YesterdayMIT Technology Review announced Rebecca Saive has been named to MIT Technology Review’s prestigious annual list of Innovators Under 35 as an Inventor. Every year, the world-renowned media company has recognized a list of exceptionally talented technologists whose work has great potential to transform the world.

Rebecca’s “Effectively Transparent Contacts” invention for photovoltaic cells significantly increases device efficiency, potentially leading to cheaper manufacturing and faster adoption of solar energy technologies.
